Retro toys 2 continues our discussion of memorable toys from our childhood. In this episode, the toys we discuss range from our first bikes to the always-popular Mr. Potato Head. We didn’t forget about yo-yos, coin collections, the basic red wagon, and the real antique toy, a View Master. Who needs YouTube when you have a large collection of reels? Speaking of YouTube, check out this video of a serious View Master aficionado. Join us for retro toys 2 as we wrap up our trip down memory lane.

Remembering my dolls, doll carriage and doll house. Also popular and good for hours of play was “jump rope” (alone and with others). Spent a lot of time playing jacks and cards with my cousins. Beginning card game was “Old Maid”.
    Those Were The Days !!!!!

It’s interesting how simple our toys were when we were young. Jacks, cards, jump ropes, hula hoops, yo-yos, marbles, and slinky. No batteries, no electronics, no noise.

  2. Roger Smith says:

Slinky! Play Dough! Monopoly! Etch-a-Sketch! Not a toy, but….MAD magazine! Maybe you could do a segment on what we read.

Thanks, Roger. Great idea for a segment on what we read when we were young.

  3. Mary Lawler says:

    How about hula hoops!!!
And I remember super balls and bouncing a super ball into my face by accident! Wham!

Now you’re going to have to do Retro Toys 3 and 4 and 5……………
Good show that we can all identify with!
All boys my age wanted to be just like Hopalong Cassidy–dressed all in black with 2 shiny sixshooters ready to rescue fair maidens in distress–but, alas, none of us had that white horse to make it all possible.
